The Runaways
The yet-to-be released Runaways/Joan Jett biopic works well on many levels, but best when it's not taken too seriously. I enjoyed the entire duration and even had a few moments that gave me the shivers, which tends to happen when I'm totally engaged in a film and there is some sort of realization moment being had. In this case, it was the moment the young band and their wildly eccentric manager/producer Kim Fowley (played by Michael Shannon) come up with the famous single "Cherry Bomb." Radio Lab brings a great mix of extremely interesting topics, fascinating science and mixes them together in one of the most well edited audio experiences around. Definitely check out this podcast! The first season is currently being aired here in Chicago on WBEZ. | highlights: Really, the entire first season is amazing. More specifically, the parasites episode is frighteningly good.

Maron provides us with a seemingly endless flow of random thoughts, interesting things and Jewey-banter*. He regularly has solid and interesting guests, mainly comedians. *inside joke | highlights: Episode 35 - Dave Pullano discuses how he broke into the film business thru his reception gig at Miramax.
ESPN: The B.S. Report with Bill Simmons. (itunes link)Bill Simmons is a great example of a modern writer done right. His columns on ESPN are largely popular but aside from that, Simmons realized early that a rock solid podcast was a great way to build a fan base--and it has, consistently putting him towards the top of itunes' most popular. If you like sports, you'll enjoy the podcast. Beyond that, you'll also find interesting guests who have little to do with sports, such as Chuck Klosterman. | highlights: Kevin Wilde's half-baked ideas, Cousin Sal & the NFL lines, Jacko bitching about the Yankees.
