Lollapalooza 2010

Admittedly, I slacked off pretty hard at Lollapalooza this year. I had planned on taking it easy from the beginning but only shooting one band was a little too easy. Then again, not having a photo pass made shooting most bands all but impossible without a telephoto lens. Alas, enjoy the photos of Matt & Kim and some other random coverage (like our "celebrity" kickball game!!)

Lollapalooza Sunday

8/9/2009 | Chicago: The third and final day of Lollapalooza. A few random thoughts that come to mind: Passion Pit was great live. The crowd was going absolutely crazy. I love the Spin Magazine tent in the press area. It seems very easy to sneak into Lollapalooza, and also fun! (I kind of wanted to try it, even though I had credentials). The Hood Internet had a cool Apple Mac set design. Lots of people peeing in bushes and behind stuff, very little toilet paper in the bathrooms. I had planned on shooting Lou Reed, but was convinced to check out Snoop Dog instead. Snoop Dog was enjoyable, but fell short of amazing. He's a member of the Nation of Islam now, isn't he? I saw a bunch of black dudes in suits backstage during his set. Lots of walking. I don't see what all the fuss about MSTRKFT is. I saw the best ever shaming--a dude fell asleep, so his friends unlaced his shoes, tied them around both of his hands and turned him into a human marionette! I had been spreading a rumor of Perry Farrel entering stage via a helicopter but was not entirely accurate (they had a helicopter shining a spotlight on the crowd for a few minutes--which Tyler got to shoot from!!). I was denied access to shoot Jane's Addiction when the pit manager came out and said only thirty people would be allowed in. Because of this I left, as asked to. Of course, they let in more people later on which goes to show you, never listen to rules because you will just get shit on for following them. After getting rejected from Jane's, I headed over to the Perry's stage to shoot some of Deadmau5 but was rejected there as well. The guy told me "we're shutting down soon" a solid 45 minutes prior to 10pm. I was too tired to put up a fight so I went home. Here some of the photos I got and bands I managed to shoot.
